Well, I'm not sure about you, but I think it's questionable whether the glorious British classics of Bakewell tart, Lemon Drizzle, Rhubarb & Custard, and Chocolate Orange have lost their dignity in these clear plastic pots of chilled dairy pudding-ness from Asda. They're a bit of a deconstructed version of their original format, just shoved in a pot. The Bakewell, for example is an almond flavour mousse with 'layers' of tangy raspberry compote and soft sponge bites. As you can see from the photo, 'layers' should be taken lightly. Same of the Lemon Drizzle, which apparently consists of layers of zesty lemon compote, creamy mousse and soft sponge bites. The Chocolate Orange sounds a little more like it...orange compote, orange mousse, milk chocolate sauce and chocolate sponge pieces with chocolate curls. The rhubarb doesn't sound bad either; rhubarb compote, cream mousse with clotted cream and custard flavour sauce with flapjack pieces. But at £1.00 for 2, we can't really argue.
