Poppets Popcorn

After a bit of googling, I found out that Poppets have been around since the 1920s! They haven't changed much, as the winning formula of chocolate covered balls of toffee will never grow old. But this new format brings them bang up to date.
Launching in retailers this month, new Poppets toffee popcorn has a recommended retail price of £1. It will be available in 250g sharing bag and 6 x 25g multi-pack formats, and apparently they are due to make an appearance very soon in in Poundland, Poundworld, 99p Stores and B&M Bargains.
The question is... will they make their mark amongst the hundreds of other toffee flavoured popcorns?

Ice Lollies

Available now in Asda, this new pork salami stick is sure to give Peperami a run for its money! The packaging is similar and just like Peperami, they are available in original and Hot and Spicy. However, they also have a Chorizo flavour.

Sorry, dear readers, that I haven't blogged for a while. I've been abroad, but I'm back, and there's lots of exiting new products, so you can expect lots of blogs over the next few days!

Take a look at these two latest flavours from the gorgeous Liberte yogurt collection. I love Liberte for the thick and creamy Greek yogurt that deceives you into thinking that you're eating a full-fat yogurt. Reaching the intensely flavoursome fruity layer at the bottom is also a joy!

Lassi is a popular, traditional, yogurt-based drink from India & Pakistan. Lassi is a blend of yogurt, water, spices and sometimes, fruit.

Mango lassi is gaining popularity worldwide. It is made from yogurt, water and mango pulp. It may be made with or without additional sugar. It is widely available in UK, Malaysia and Singapore, and in many other parts of the world. In various parts of Canada, mango lassi is a cold drink consisting of sweetened kesar mango pulp mixed with yogurt, cream, or ice cream. It is served in a tall glass with a straw, often with ground pistachio nuts sprinkled on top. You can now get it pre-made, for when the day is grey and ordinary, and you need something exotic! But it won't be served in a tall glass with pistachios. Sorry.

Review: Innocent Perfectly Pink

I've been meaning to try this intriguing new smoothie from Innocent for a while now, and it was certainly worth the wait. It's primary ingredients are apples, pears and beetroot (which accounts for its dramatic pink hue). The pear is the strongest flavour, but it's a clean, refreshing and inoffensive taste, sweet just to the right degree. You rarely find a taste like this from a smoothie or a juice, and I like the originality of it. I couldn't distinguish a beetroot taste, which is probably a good thing, but I reckon the beetroot contributes to the slightly earthy taste and takes the edge of the acidity of the apples.

Beetroot is a 'super food', and it felt great to be drinking something so healthy but which was also incredibly tasty. I would not hesitate to get it again, if only it was a bit more affordable. It's £3.00 for just 750ml in Sainsbury's.

Sharwood's Noodle Bowls and Stir Fry Melts

A more upmarket version of the pot noodle. The pot has been replaced by a bowl, and you get a spork included. The noodles are ready in 5 minutes, and the sauce is 'stir-in', so you can add as much or as little as you fancy.

The four variants are Chow Mein, Sweet Chilli, Sweet and Sour, and something slightly different... Singapore Curry. The chilli ratings vary depending on which version you get. I wish they'd do a thai green/red curry version.

They're each £1.48 from Asda.



Stir Fry Melts
Something else new from Sharwood's: Stir Fry Melts. These little pots of flavour are tapping into the already existent market for flavour shots such as those from Schwartz. They aren't as big as previous Sharwood's packets of stir fry sauce, but they promise that you will still get the same flavour because these pots are more concentrated.  The new range is available in four flavours; Sweet Chilli, Spicy Szechuan, Chow Mein and Sweet & Sour (very similar to the 4 flavours of the Noodle Bowls). Boxes of two pots will have an rrp of £1.59.

What's new from Muller

Goodness, haven't Muller been busy! Not just one new range... but three! Where do I begin?

I'll start with the Muller Pud Corners
If anyone knows how to do twin pot yogurts/desserts, it's Muller. This product is a new take on the familiar.
You  can choose from...chocolate yogurt with milk and white chocolate coated crispy balls, toffee flavour yogurt with milk chocolate digestive pieces, and chocolate yogurt with crunchy white chocolate coated flakes. The first and the last sound very similar. If you get a chance to try them before I do, then let me know how different they are.

The desserts are available in 4 packs with a RRP of £2.49 per pack and are on the shelf now in Asda.

 Mullerlight Goodies

Those who are watching their weight will now be able to join in the twin-pot fun! This new range takes the corner concept and makes it light. It's light enough to be under 99 calories, but yet there's still a fantastic and imaginative range of flavours. Variants are...lemon yogurt with mini meringue pieces, strawberry yogurt with white chocolate coated balls, and toffee yogurt with chocolate coated balls. And the cherry on the cake is the snazzy packaging.

Just like the Puds, they will be available in single flavour 4 packs with a rrp of £2.69. They're currently on the shelves in Asda.






And last but not least... Muller Rice Remix: Greek Inspired

Drink Me Skinny Chai Latte

Good news for dieters.... Drink Me Chai have launched a skinny version of their popular chai latte drink. It has reduced fat and reduced sugar - it's made with skimmed milk power, and has only 62 calories per cup. This spicy, refreshing tea is 99% caffeine free.

It's usually made with boiling water, but with the summer just around the corner, it could be worth noting a recipe for a delicious iced chai latte: just put 4 teaspoons of the latte power into a blender with 300ml of cold milk and ice. Blend for 20 seconds and hey presto. Delish!
