Surely 'new' and 'traditional' are a bit contradictory. Basically, M&S have brought out a huge new range featuring traditional British foods. Their new range is HUGE, but here are a few of the somewhat more quirky products....
Pontefract Cakes
Named after the West Yorkshire town of Pontefract, these chewy rounds of liquorice date back to 1760! M&S believe these little black sweets will be huge this summer, and have found a small-scale confectionery company based in Pontefract to produce them. Pontefract Cakes, £1.10 for a 160g bag.
St Clements Cashews and Almonds:
Cashews and almonds roasted with orange blossom honey, lemon and orange zest and sweetened orange pieces.
Free Range Chicken, Mustard and Worcester Sauce Handcooked Crisps
West Country Cheddar Chive and Caramelised Onion Jumbo Peanuts and Cashews
Scottish Heather Honey and Mustard Roasted Cashews
Scottish Langoustines with Lemon and Dill Hand Cooked Crisps
Rhubarb and Custard Drops
Freeze dried rhubarb and wheat crispies with custard flavour white chocolate coating.
Scottish All Butter Eton Mess Shortbread Rounds
Rich, buttery shortbread with double cream, chewy strawberry and melt in the mouth meringue pieces.
Summer Trifle Cookies:
Custard flavoured cookie with sour cherries, glace cherries and toasted flaked almonds.
