Star Wars and Frozen yogurts

Danone has collaborated with Disney on the development of new yogurt products, themed around two popular films. Yes, you guessed it... the Frozen and Star Wars movie franchises!

The first product is a new strawberry-flavoured yogurt shake features a single-serve format with attached straw. Danone hasn't missed a trick - there are 4 different packagings for the Star Wars shakes; Darth Vader, Yoda, Storm Trooper and Chewbacca, and 3 for the Frozen: Elsa, Anna and Olaf, ensuring that kids will keep buying these in order to collect the whole set. They have also released a four-pack of 125g yogurt pots in strawberry and mixed berry varieties.

The shakes are priced at £1.30 and the yogurts are £1.60 for a pack of 4. Available now in Sainsbury's.

Mello melon juice

Here's a groovy new drink on the Waitrose shelves.... Mello melon juice, available in Watermelon and Cantaloupe varieties. They're 100% pure juice. There's definitely a deficit of both melon-flavoured and melon-based products on the shelves, and whereas I'm not such a fan of the cantaloupe, I'm glad to see that watermelon is having its moment of glory.

Lemonade with a twist...

Bottlegreen Cotswold Lemonade with Mint...

...because bog-standard lemonade is just so boring! Bottlegreen has launched a new Cotswold lemonade and mint sparkling pressé, which it said “offers a contemporary twist on the classic lemonade”.

Available in 750ml bottles and 250ml slimline cans with recommended retail prices of £2.39 and £1.45 respectively, the new drink will launch later this month in outlets of retailers including Waitrose, Sainsbury’s and Ocado.

Chocolate Shot Orange Spice

Galaxy Vanilla Ice Cream Bar

Mars Ice Cream has unveiled a new addition to the Galaxy Ice Cream collection – Galaxy Vanilla.
Joining the rest of the Galaxy range, including Galaxy Caramel and Galaxy Almond, Galaxy Vanilla is, unsurprisingly, a vanilla ice cream bar covered in smooth Galaxy milk chocolate.
Galaxy Vanilla is available to purchase in a single wrapped handheld format, RSP 75p.

Limited Edition: WKD Vegas

The nightlife of Las Vegas has inspired the currant limited edition from ready-to-drink brand WKD.
WKD Vegas comes in a 275ml bottle with a label carrying a Vegas-style sign and graphics to convey the atmosphere of the US gambling capital at night. The drink is purple but, as usual, it is not promoted in terms of its flavour (mixed fruit). It will be available until December 2015.
Available in Sainsbury's and Tesco.

Nosh drinks

Breakfast in a bottle. That's essentially what this new product from Nosh is. The Nosh 'Super Brekkie' combines Greek style yogurt with oats and other healthies to give you a great start to your day. As far as I know, Tesco are only selling the Strawberry & Banana, and Oats & Honey versions (£2.50 for 250ml). However, Super Brekkie also comes in Mango & Passionfruit and Banana Porridge varieties.

All three have an almond mousse base. The Caramel Treat has added biscuit, and caramel sauce. The Chocolate Temptation has cocoa sauce with dark chocolate coated coffee beans, and the Strawberry Delight has macaroon crumble and strawberry sauce.

Phileas Fogg Spanish Corn Crisps

Phileas Fogg's latest product shows that the brand is determined not to be left behind in the evident trend for tortilla-style crisps. It follows in the footsteps of Popchips, Tyrrells and Pringles, who have all brought out their own versions of the popular Mexican crisps. However, Phileas Fogg has made sure that their latest product is not just a boring replica of the original tortilla crisp.... Firstly, they're not your standard tortilla shape - they're more of an irregular oval shape. Secondly, they're not called tortilla crisps. Instead they're called Spanish Corn Chips. And lastly, they have a rather original flavour: Smoky Chorizo and Red Pepper.

Yes, that's right....another new product from Innocent! It seems like there's no stopping them!

Once again, this new product follows the latest trend for vegetable and fruit juice blends. This time, it's apple, cucumber, celery and spinach, with ginger and lime added for a bit of punch! Remember when your mother told you to eat your greens? With this, you can drink them too!

Friji Reduced Sugar

It seems like sugar is a dirty word. Or that's what we're lead to believe by numerous brands offering reduced sugar alternatives. Following the likes of Cheerios, Munch Bunch and Honey Puffs (formerly Sugar Puffs), now Friji has released two of its flavours (Chocolate and Strawberry) in reduced sugar versions.
They have 40% less sugar, which changes the calorie content from 73kcal per 100ml to 47kcal.
Available in Tesco for £1.30.

Review: Tango Eezy Freezy Tasty Traingle

• • These freezable triangles aren't new, per se, but I've never spotted them on the supermarket shelves before. So when I saw them in Sainsbury's, I though I would give them a try. And I certainly don't regret having done so! They were good! Orange juice from concentrate is the third ingredient listed, after water and sugar, and it only comprises 8% of the ice pop. However, you certainly wouldn't believe it because they taste as if they could be pure orange juice. They have a lovely rich, realistic orange flavour, as opposed to an artificial orange squash-y flavour. I would certainly get them again. I found out that Tango also make Blue Raspberry triangles which I'd like to try but I'm not sure if they're sold in the UK. If anyone tracks them down, please let me know!

Ice cream tacos and burritos

Ice-cream has turned Mexican...

THe latest addition to the Cornetto family is a Cornetto Taco, which comprises of vanilla ice cream with a caramel flavoured swirl, encased in a crispy waffle taco and is covered with milk chocolate and peanuts. Evidently it is capitalising on the popularity of ice creams in a sandwich format. However, this is not the first version of the ice cream taco - In 1998, Unilever introduced the Choco Taco to Italy and 1999 to Sweden with the name Winner Taco. In 2000 the Winner Taco was retired from the Italian/Swedish market. However, after two years of campaigning by Taco fans, on January 2014 Algida announced on their Facebook page the return of the Winner Taco in Italy. GB Glace selling the ice cream in Sweden has also re-introduced the ice cream in 2014. Now, behold it's launch in UK ice-cream freezers....




But it doesn't end there for ice-cream, because Ben & Jerry's has released an ice-cream burrito. Or, I should say, Brrrr-ito! It’s a tortilla-style waffle batter wrap… plus two scoops of ice cream…all wrapped up and ready to go: That sounds pretty delicious in and of itself, but no self-respecting burrito would dare present itself with a single ingredient. So to keep things real, the ice cream scoops are drizzled with fudge and dusted with cookie crumbs. Available from Ben & Jerry's shops only. Sniff sniff.

And in more mind-blowing news, the ice cream brand has also partnered with New Belgium Brewing and will launch its first brew at the end of the summer. The debut flavour will be, yes you guessed it, Salted Caramel Brownie. Because who hasn’t sat in the pub on a hot summer’s day and thought what they really need to do is combine this cold pint of beer with my favourite dessert?!!

Frozen food retailer Iceland has launched a new range of American-themed dishes. The new "Let’s Eat American" range boasts stateside staples and diner-inspired delights. Products have already started arriving in stores, and this will continue until Independence Day on 4th July, when all the products will be available.

VERY limited edition Cadbury's bar

Cadbury have revealed that they are to produce a limited edition chocolate bar celebrating the entire range of products in its Dairy Milk portfolio. Each of the new bars features Dairy Milk’s milk chocolate, whole nut, fruit and nut, Turkish delight, Daim, Oreo and caramel varieties. But wipe that smile off your face, because just TEN (some sources say it's 50) bars will be produced, and to get your sticky hands on one you have to win it from one of the brand's social media platforms over the next few weeks. Good luck :)

 

Yorkshire Provender soup pots

Soup producer Yorkshire Provender has released a three-flavour range of single-portion soups.
Packaged in 380g pots with a recommended retail price of £1.99, the soups have launched across the UK in Little Waitrose (the supermarket chain’s convenience store).
They are... a vegan-friendly citrus herb broth with noodles and quinoa, offering a healthy alternative at just 80 calories per pot; pea and fresh spinach soup with fresh mint, made from seasonal summer vegetables; and roast chicken soup with traditional vegetables for the “perfect comfort soup". However, in my eyes, this launch is not exactly appropriately timed, considering that the days are getting warmer and we're feeling much more summery! Still, with the ari-con on, chicken soup might just hit that spot!
 

Heinz convenience food

Yet more new products from Heinz? This new Heinz range of convenience products is exclusively available in Asda. It features two varieties of sausage roll: Tomato Ketchup and Ploughman's Pickle.
